The Three Basic Problems in the Philippines stalling the National Democratic movement in the Philippines are Semi-Feudalism, U.S. Imperialism, and Bureaucrat Capitalism. The direct problem that is the root of all problems in the Philippines today is the US institutional presence in the Philippines. The US has been in the Philippines even before Philippine Revolution in 1896. They’ve been “surveying” our land even before the revolution because the US has always been interested in the Philippine Islands for our natural resources and labor. Geographically, the Philippines is in a perfect position on the map for trade and for military bases to reach China. Directly right after the Philippine Revolution, the US seized the moment bought the Philippines from Spain for $22 million dollars and immediately imperialized our people. They’ve effectively set up institutions by trying to kill the Katipunan and our fight for liberation while at the same time bringing over teachers from America great in numbers to colonize our peoples’ minds into the American ways. These schools were taught straight English and taught our people that America is civilizing and Christianizing our people while erasing all our national identity and culture. These institutions still exist today with an education in the Philippines that is very biased glorifying the US. The true Philippine history and culture of our people is being hidden while the colonial mindset is engraved into these institutions made to benefit the US. To this day there are 20+ US military bases in the Philippines and there are negotiations being made between Obama and Aquino to increase the number of US military bases in the Philippines. Statistics show that a US imperialized country with US military bases have rape increase 120%. The US presence in the Philippines is the main issue at hand for our National Democratic Movement today. Today the movement is pushing to get rid of the US from Philippine soil. This land is our land. It’s always been our land. Until we take our land back and are able to run our country by our people for our people, the revolution isn’t finished. The Philippine Revolution of 1896 is still going today. Do your part in the Revolution and educate and organize for change.
